Dr. Paula Bedford
Veterinarian
Dr. Bedford has embraced the title of “crazy cat lady” for years, but recently, she’s added a new title to the mix: “crazy goat mom.” Along with her husband, she manages a busy household and Christmas tree farm, home to 5 cats, 4 dogs, 1 guinea pig, 13 sheep, 10 goats, around 20 chickens, and 3 children. When she’s not caring for her lively crew, Dr. Bedford enjoys playing ice hockey, gardening, reading, and squeezing in some sleep whenever possible.
Dr. Bedford played varsity soccer at Simon Fraser University, where she earned a B.Sc. in Biology. Despite her fear of Prairie winters, she pursued her veterinary studies at the University of Saskatchewan’s Western College of Veterinary Medicine and is also certified in veterinary acupuncture. With a background in mixed animal practice, research, teaching, and locum work, Dr. Bedford became the proud owner of Maple Ridge Veterinary Hospital in 2016.
Her passion for veterinary medicine and lifelong learning drives her both personally and professionally. Dr. Bedford is especially dedicated to fostering the growth and well-being of her team, and is proud to serve as the coach of the incredible Maple Ridge Veterinary Hospital team.
